There's been a lot going on in Linux lately...

The Android Patent War continues and Google bought Motorola Mobility
Linux had its 20th Birthday recently
New details about the next version of Unity finally surface
ASUS is releasing a netbook using MeeGo

Oh, and lets not forget...

The Linux Community snickers as Microsoft blows off Linux as not a
threat to the Desktop Market.

Windows 8 is going to be a huge paradigm shift for Microsoft. An even
bigger shift than Unity has been for Ubuntu. Microsoft is essentially
taking the Windows Phone 7 UI and slapping it onto their next desktop
OS. Its not just an overlay on top of an existing desktop. The
traditional Start Menu and Taskbar are still there, but they're only
accessible if you're running a legacy application from XP, Vista and
Windows 7. They're taking a huge risk. Then, there's the ARM port
Windows 8. WP7 has failed to make any significant inroads into the
cellular market and they think an ARM version of their desktop OS is
going to do any better.
