Also correct. By the way, 64 bit doesn't offer any tangible benefits
to the user (IMHO) unless you are using more than 2 gigs of RAM.

Don't worry, your question isn't stupid. This branding has been a
source of confusion to many.
amd64 was a processor architecture created by AMD, but later adopted
by Intel. Intel also has their own arch, the ia64, but it was very
unpopular, lacking backwards compatibility with i386, Intel's 32 bit
line. (most modern 32bit procs are running i686, but they are close
enough for our purposes)
So yes, an amd64 download will (probably) work on your machine,
assuming it is 64bit.
