Hi,
It may be old news to some of you, but the 30th Anniversary of the National
Educational Computing Conference (NECC) will be held in Washington, DC
early next summer (2009.06.28 - 2009.07.01).
A few summers back, some of the folks from this area flew out to San Diego
for this conference, where the keynote presenter was a guy named Nicholas
Negroponte. ;-) We got to see a very early, chassis-less prototype of the
XO laptop, and we had our own Ubuntu DC LoCo booth there, as well as
helping out with the Open Source Lab run by Steve Hargadon.
It was a HUGE conference, and I think the Open Source Lab was able to make
a real impact there, along with the Moodle presenters. So, if you have any
interest in FOSS in schools, put this on your radar.
I figure it's never too early to start thinking about such events...
