[CoLoCo] resources for a linux newbie in the Denver area

Greetings,

One of the teachers at the school where I do IT work wants to get a linux laptop.  She has the opportunity to buy a very cheap no-OS laptop, but she doesn't want to pay extra for a copy of windows.  And she's heard terrible things about Vista.

She's moderately familiar with Ubuntu as she uses it every day on her school desktop.  I'm helping her along, and I've pointed her to the local LUG's, etc.  The one piece of software that she really _needs_ is something to work with her Zune.  A few minutes of googling suggests that the Zune works (almost) with amarok as long as you compile in libmtp.

Question1: what good Denver area resources are there for newbies?  I've already suggested the local LUG's and possibly attending an installfest.
Question2: Any recent (Ubuntu 8.04/8.10) experience with Zune/Amarok?
