[CoLoCo] Can't Open URLs in Thunderbird

In Kubuntu 8.04 I have Thunderbird and Firefox 3.  I've set Thunderbird 
and Firefox as the preferred applications in the System Settings screen 
and also set Firefox as the default web browser in its settings yet when 
I click on a link in Thunderbird the browser doesn't start and when its 
open the URL doesn't come up in Firefix.  I have to manually copy and 
paste the URL.

Any suggestions?
