Title:
Second Serving: Experimenting with the Raspberry Pi

Abstract:
Teaching students about computers can be expensive. The Raspberry Pi
organization decided to change that. For $35, students can learn about
computer hardware and software on the cheap. It didn't take long for
hobbyists to find out about the little computer board, and start
experimenting with what it can do.

In this presentation, you will learn what it takes to set up the hardware,
configuring the software, and look all the kinds of projects that people
are doing with the Pi. Jeff will demostrate, among other things, how to
load Debian Linux and Apache Server on the Raspberry Pi. There is plenty of
resources on the net to help you get started, and maybe you'll get an idea
for something cool! Let's get excited about computers again!

Jeff will also be demostrating the current state of some of the hardware
issues of the Raspberry Pi including the limitations of setting the
Raspberry Pi up as an Apache server.

Profile:
Jeff Jirsa is a programer that writes PHP applications for his day job. He
has programmed using C, C++, Korn shell, Perl, Rexx, and other scripting
languages. He has used everything from DOS to OS/2, to Windows, to AIX, to
Linux of various flavors.

Cheers!
