I've got a question on this method Randy. Isn't ubuntu desktop the meta package? Will the --reinstall pull in the necessary packages? I would check this isn't a problem with X. sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg (use the default options) -- Best, Freddy Martinez
