[Ubuntu Chicago] seeding?

What exactly does the DVD contain that the cd does not? Is it just a faster
of way of getting things you might normally apt-get?
I am relatively new to Ubuntu...I have been using Linspire since 2004 with
minor experiments with cent OS and gentoo. Prior to that it was all SUSE
and RedHat.
