have you tried restarting your router/modem? if it's showing your network but not displaying the icon for being connected, it's at least detecting your network so i don't think it's a driver issue, unless i'm wrong.
you could also try connecting to your router/modem by ethernet cable to see how that works. if that connects with no issue, then i'd say it's the wifi signal where it may not be strong enough to reach your laptop. have you tried sitting closet to your wifi ap?
usually a modem/router restart helps. you could do it either by unplugging everything and giving it like 60 seconds to make sure everything has drained of stored energy and then reconnecting everything.
if you know how, you could also get into the router by way of its IP address. usually that's 192.168.1.1 but it may be different for you but that's generally the default IP address for most routers. you just put that in the address bar and enter. the username and password are usually on a label on the router itself.
