Forgot something. What output do you get when running "compiz-manager"
from a terminal (konsole, xterm, etc.). It's preferable to run it that
way.

Even so, sometimes compiz stops working by itself and I have to
manually start it, then it's good for N number of sessions before I
have to do it again. Not that big of a deal. :)
