To check which version is installed, open a terminal and run
apt-cache policy ibus
That will tell you which one is installed, it should say
  Installed: 1.5.5-1ubuntu3
  Candidate: 1.5.5-1ubuntu3

The one in the Proposed repo is 1.5.5-1ubuntu3.1
