Dear all,
I am just following up on this minor but annoying issue with my machine
(Lenovo Thinkpad x131e (intel)).
The core of this issue is that when i go to shutdown my machine it
regularly reboots automatically. The problem has persisted across a number
of different versions of ubuntu (currently running 13.10) and i have just
lived with it.
This is not a problem in windows and it occurs regardless of the way ion
which i try and shut the machine down - via the power button, panel cog and
command line.
The BIOS are up to date.
What i have noticed recently is that the problem only happens if i have put
the machine into suspend before i shut it down. If i do not suspend the
machine it shuts down and stays shut down. This is a relief as its what
allows me to turn off my computer - once it reboots, i shut it down again
without suspending it and then everything is fine.
So my guess is that something in a hibernate process is triggering the
machine to reboot on shutdown. I am not sure where i would find out about
these sorts of details but i was wondering if, now that i know what causes
the problem, someone on here might be able to help me either fix the
problem. That, or identify exactly what is wrong so i can file a cogent bug
report.
Thanks very much,
j
