Have you checked the web interface? It should have the last good versions
of the files in there.
Also remember that syncing isn't backup, especially for important files. A
newer version of a file will always overwrite an older one, so if you're
using something that creates empty files in an Ubuntu One folder on one
machine, it will overwrite an existing file. I use Beersmith in exactly
this way, and if it's open in two locations the database will fail to
update.
