Just tried running a gui program from the commandline and lo and behold, 
a launcher icon appeared.  Is there something odd about Talend?  Both 
gparted and calibre ran from the commandline and a launcher icon 
appeared, so I don't really see what can be happening.  I minimised each 
of them and then clicked the launcher icon and got them back ....
