I tried a while ago, and it was a nonstarter, but it works fine in xp on 
virtual box.
She got a new laptop which is dual booting but if she is doing our 
accounts she didn't want to have to keep restarting and I didn't want 
her to use windows any more than was absolutely necessary. Once she 
gives linux  real chance I don't think she will go back.
