As a user I avoid Wine as I don't find it very reliable and I'm never sure whether it's Wine or the program playing up when things go wrong.
Both GTK and QT are cross platform so I would have thought that is the way to go.  No idea how easy/hard it would to to convert to them or just how crossplatform they are though.
