Sounds like something is wrong if your system isn't consistent in it's 
drive naming.  This should only happen if you are adding or removing 
drives. between boots.  Never been a problem for me.

UUID's are like Marmite (you either love it or hate it).  Shaving 3 
seconds off the boot time was well worth it.  Jaunty was booting in 13 
seconds :-)
