I'm having a scout around the t'interweb for a PCI-E 3ware card (no
PCI slot unfortunately) to see what they come in at.
I'd still love to know whether this is an Ubuntu problem or if the HDD
has really just left the factory defective though? It's interesting
that Michael had the same problem.
Running Ubuntu on top of software RAID is pretty new to me to be
honest, I've only ran Ubuntu on HP hardware RAID before (DL360) SCSI
drives etc.. Just installed it and walked away. Never had a problem
(fingers crossed).
