Is it possible to have a vote on list (or elsewhere) as to what the
position should be called when the new person takes over?

I think "point of contact" is the wrong title, personally, as anybody
involved in the team is essentially a point of contact.  Teams should
have a defined leader, imho... I've seen attempts to break from this
accepted norm and, in general, it has weakened the team as a whole.

So I would, without a moment's hesitation, vote for the position to
revert to its previous title - "Team Leader".
