Some might want to have a look at the desktop training pdf (from the 
ubuntu wiki a few months ago).
student.pdf

It can currently be torrent downloaded easily from mininova
http://www.mininova.org/tor/1635675
and other locations, although the original wiki location appears not 
to currently provide it.
