[ubuntu-uk] dvd rom-gutsy doesnt see!!!

I'm having a similar problem in Kubuntu when I insert a blank disc it 
just shows the disc icon on the desktop and when I click it I get an 
error. Normally it would say 'what do i do next?' and I'd click open/cancel.

Even bought a new 16x Pioneer DVD+/-RW (as my old one was on the way out 
anyway) but it's still the same.

When I'm in K3B (burning software) and I put in a DVD, the disc isn't 
recognised. But if I have the blank in the drive BEFORE starting K3B it 
will be recognised and I can burn to it.

Already burned CD/DVD's are fine, I can read them no problem.

Is this maybe a bug in a past Gutsy update?
