Evening Folks
Just to let all interested parties know that I'm putting this particular
idea on hold for the time being. This is primarily as a result of changes
that are happening upstream in Gnome, and until things have settled down
there, I don't feel right comfortable with demonstrating Ubuntu at this
event, especially with it's emphasis on accessability
The first is the movement away from the CORBA inter process messageing
interface to DBus, and the uncertainty over which video effects system is to
be used - metacity being the favoured one at the moment, but there is also
serious talk about integration with Compis. This together with today's
announcement that the current sole developer and maintainer of the Gnome
Magnifier has had to back away from this project for personal reasons.
There is also the problem that Ubuntu's own Accessability team has appeared
to have decrease to one individual who is dealing with all those aspects
that directly relate to Ubuntu's integration of accessability is making me
feel real uncomfortable.
If things improve before end of January, which is when registration for this
event closes, I will post an update.
I would like to thank again all those who have expressed a desire to help
with this event. It was, and still is, my desire to show Ubuntu off at it's
best, and at the moment things are too changeable to be comfortable with.
Cheers
Ian
