[ubuntu-uk] Problem installing R packages

Dear all Ubuntu users

I am an otherwise happy user working on my PhD.  I am trying to download
some packages for the R statistics program but come up with the
following messages:

The downloaded packages are in
        /tmp/RtmpJxvMD5/downloaded_packages
Warning messages:
1: installation of package 'QCAGUI' had non-zero exit status in:
install.packages() 
2: cannot create HTML package index in:
tools:::unix.packages.html(.Library) 

Does anyone have any suggestions, please about how I can unlock the
appropriate directory.
