I don't blame you, it causes me problems on the rare occasions that I
use them. This isn't tweakable, but a bug has been filed with the
developers on the issue. (see
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=121113 ) unfortunately it is
classified as a low priority.
