[ubuntu-uk] Sound hardware suggestions

I wonder if anyone could suggest a sound "card" for use with a Edgy 
machine. Do they exist as USB connected - give me the flexibility to use 
on different machiens without taking apart.

My interersts are 
 - sampling audio input (Analogue -> digital ) at high quality
 - playing sound (quality less inportant this way)
 - midi connection to keyboard
