If you read the articles about Dave Mitchells "refund" you will note:-
"A couple of days after the refund was agreed, an invoice from Dell
arrived through the post, which described the refund as "goodwill
unspecified". "
i.e. It isn't a refund and it likely came out of Dells pocket and not
Microsofts.
Yes, it's great to get your money back, and if enough people do this
then maybe Dell (and other hardware vendors) might just get a clue that
some people want choice. However right now it's not hurting Microsoft in
any way, and they probably don't even see these show up as refunds on
their bottom line because the OEM takes the hit.
