I've got a similar setup which has worked fine with Ubuntu since
pre-Warty, and now all the dvb modules are built into the kernel, so
no need to compile extra dvb modules any more.

Be sure to get the "budget" variety of the Nova-t cards to ensure that
you can do the time-shifting.  That is, get one *without* a tv out and
mpeg decoder, since most of these won't let you save the mpeg stream.

That's actually a very good web site, and it's probably worth reading
a little bit about how it all works, like the difference between
transport streams and program streams, how DVB and DVD differ, the
MHEG standards, etc.
