[ubuntu-uk] Any help with this ??

I currently have 3 distros that I use and a spare partition to try out
other distros...I have Mepis,Ubuntu and PClinuxos as regulars and with 
each distro everything worked ok   sound,video and all...I then 
installed the new suse sled on the spare partition and found that sound 
and video would not run in it..When I rebooted mepis and ubuntu the 
sound would not work in them either yet it is ok in pclinux...Even when 
I run the live cd's the sound does not work..I see the correct modules 
are loaded and the gui tells me the hardware is ok...I just d/loaded 
Knoppix and the sound is ok in that
so can anyone tell me where I should be looking to cure the problem ??
