My idea is to scrap the offline hompage entirely. I feel that if a
user opens the browser and is offline, that information should
immediately be made clear to him through an error message. The purpose
of opening a browser is to access the internet (not to find out about
Ubuntu) and if the user doesn't have a working internet account, I
don't think it's fair to give a screen which looks a bit like a
webpage.
I've raised this with the firefox maintainer and there is a spec in
place dealing with similar issues: we'll see how it goes.
