voting on a string

I once discussed something similar with one of the Launchpad people.
My idea was that it should be possible to sign off on a suggestion.
That way after a lot of different people have made suggestions to many
different strings, than one dedicated translator could go through all
the suggestions, and either make a new suggestions or sign off on one
of the old ones. Then he could inform his team that it was ready for
review and then the reviewer could sort and see only the suggestions
that this translator had made or signed off on. But then I was told
(if I remember correctly) that they didn't think it was a good idea
because, it would produce to much ui clutter and perhaps also another
structure for the database underlying the suggestions. To bad really.
