[Bug 315491] Re: Empathy crashed when trying to call a GTalk contact

Maybe this can help. I've run "$ strace -tf empathy &> empathy.log";
then I waited for ~15 seconds to let everything get ready and make the
separation clear between startup and call. Then I clicked on the
microphone icon next to one of my contacts (she was running GTalk on
Windows). I immediately got a grayed-out "chat" window and the error
message above the contacts list. Then I counted again till 15 and closed
Empathy (Chat menu>Quit).

The log starts at 16:32:53 with a lot of noise. There's a bit more noise
then (probably some timer).

The click was apparently at 16:33:11 (must have counted too quick),
where the messages start changing. I can't tell anything obviously wrong
in the trace, though. As far as I can tell it's mostly looking for icons
to display in the window. (There are two spots apparently containing
some Jabber XML, but I can't follow them.)

Then it seems to resume normal noise until I quit around 16:33:31
(counted slower?)
