Morgs,

Despite it's name, "education-desktop-sugar" is not designed to provide
a sutible sugar enviornment, but rather the Sugar UI with the Skolelinux
Debian sub-distro.

I've talked with #debian-edu, and they want it to continue to recommend
-common. As such, I think that the best idea will be to drop the package
from the archive and simply accomplish this with a metapackage inside
the sugar source package, but I'll post more info about that on the
lists in a bit.

Feel free to reopen if you feel that this needs more discussion.

** Changed in: debian-edu (Ubuntu)
       Status: New => Won't Fix

Status in “debian-edu” source package in Ubuntu: Won't Fix

Bug description:
education-desktop-sugar recommends education-common, which drags in lots of packages unrelated to Sugar - including apt-listchanges, bc, bind9-host, cfengine2, cpufrequtils, traceroute, nmap, and various other sysadmin-type packages including a bunch of perl libraries.

The recommends on education-common should be removed, and the recommends on matchbox should be changed to matchbox-window-manager.

Then this metapackage will be more suitable for installing Sugar.
