[ubuntu-studio-users] ubuntu studio controls - jack not starting

Hi I am on KDE neon User Edition 5.18 . I installed the ubuntu studio controls a while back (via the backports ppa i think) which has been working fine but since the recent update i cannot start jack at all - it no longer starts automatically as it used to, and when i click on start jack in Ubuntu Studio Controls nothing happens. As a test I tried to start jack with QjackCTL but also doesn't work it says D-BUS: JACK server couuld not be started. Any ideas how to trouble shoot this?
