Hi,
I've been trying to run Ardour 2.7.1 with jackd 0.116.1 with a Mackie Onyx
1640 with the firewire expansion. I have a Dell Studio desktop, Core 2 quad
2.33, 6gigs DDR2. I was running the same setup on 8.10 with only minor
problems. I get xruns, jackd crashes, ardour crashes with the vanila kernel,
and most recently my entire computer becomes unresponsive with the real time
kernel. Also system monitor says I only have 3.1Gib of ram and 3.1Gib of
swap. Memtest and my bios both say I have the correct 6gigs of ram. I have
modified limits.conf for realtime priority and memlock. I have tried every
setting I can think of for the freebob driver and the "firewire" or FFADO
driver . No matter what I get either xruns, crashes of lockups. I know that
the rt kernel didn't support multiple processors in 9.04 for some time but
from what I understand thats been fixed. Does anyone have any insight to my
instability problems? Do I need to go back to 8.10? I haven't been able to
duplicate the crashes as they seem unpredictable. I can sometimes get it to
crash by scrolling/resizing. Maybe its the video chipset, I have the intel
GMA 4500HD chipset.
