One of the help-the-new-guy posts had a comment, let's see, from Ray, "I have
used Creative's Sound Blaster cards for as long as I've had a PC and never a
problem. DOS, Winsloth and several distros of Linux."

Me too (though their newest stuff doesn't look like they're playing ball with
Linux anymore), and this got me doing the memory lane trippy thing. The year
was 1988.

My best friend and I heard that tape. His parents got him an MT-32. Mine got
me a Game Blaster with a copy of Silpheed at Radio Shack.

He is a professional musician now, and I have been involved with the PC as a
platform for music for 20 years, and at Rosegarden for five and counting.

It's really amazing to me to look back at the confluence of events that lead
me here. I hadn't realized it had really been 20 years since then.

I really should write my memoirs, before I forget this stuff. Some of the
details are already getting sketchy.
