Jack Rack crashes

Hi, I am trying to use Jack Rack, I have a clean guitar track in ardour; I
line that output into Jackrack, and Jackrack's output into
an effect return in ardour (just another stereo track). This set up works
fine for about 30 - 45 seconds before JackRack mysteriously
crashes. Has anyone else had a problem like this? Also, is there a way to
use effects plugins within Ardour, so I could bypass JackRack all together?
