Here's what I have done and the results:

*Used asoundconf set-default-card to set my M-Audio Ozone interface as the default soundcard.

*In JACK, set the Ozone as the interface, and Default as both Imput Device and Output Device.

*Audio=Duplex

*Frames/Period=1024

*Sample Rate=4100

*Periods/Buffer=8

*Port Maximum=256

*Timeout=500ms

*Checked Realtime box--have also tried unchecked.

*Checked Verbose box.

Rosegarden produces audio through the Ozone when playing one particular demo file, perfect-moment.rg, but none of the other demo files, and nothing imported. This was using Timidity. The meters on the tracks move, but I can't hear anything (except on the perfect-moment file, where the audio sounds distorted). I also was able to use the Virtual Keyboard to record something, there was no audio playback. I used the Qsynth plugin on that track.

With Rosegarden shut down, I hooked up the Virtual Keyboard to QSynth, and the QSynth output to the ALSA PCM. I could make the light blink on the synth with the keyboard, but there was no sound.

Rhythmbox plays back through the motherboard's built-in sound. I have to physically move the speaker plug from the Ozone to the back of the computer to listen. System sounds and startup music also work this way. In Feisty, for awhile I had everything playing back through the Ozone, including system sounds, and the sound was better. IIRC the settings were about the same.

The Ozone keyboard does not appear in the JACK connect window's MIDI tab, so I can't control anything with it. I have not tested audio capture with it yet. I have installed firmware that is supposed to make the audio work with ALSA, but I don't know about the MIDI

Can anyone suggest how to proceed so I can get playback, capture, and MIDI control with the Ozone in Rosegarden and Ardour via JACK?
