Android isn't real-time audio capable, only iOS can be used for this
purpose. Some very good synth, for example all the Aturia emulations
are for $9.99, let alone that they run on an iPad 2 and even the more
expensive synth, that additionally might require in-app purchasing are
not that expensive, if you buy them during the Black Friday period.

I suspect way more poor musicians are using an iPad instead of Linux.
Most poor musicians most likely are using Windows with pirated software.
