I use ardour all the time. I add effects, and save the projects, and reopen
the projects. I'm able to export masters from the projects, and deliver the
products to clients, or whatever is needed.

Feel free and share a project that you are having problems reopening.
Otherwise, I feel you are assuming, again, a problem that you are having
using the software, is a global issue with the software.
