There are a lot of Nagios plugins that do this:
http://exchange.nagios.org/directory/Plugins/Email-and-Groupware
If you use nagios, just download one and you are done. If you don't,
you probably could take one and automate running it with cron and
email yourself the results with a fairly simple script.
