Server lockup

I've been receiving "BUG: soft lockup - CPU#0 stuck for 11s!
[kacpi_notify:45]" regularly since I upgrade to 8.04 and its degrading
my server's performance considerably.

In case anyone is unaware of what happens when there is a soft lockup,
I am unable to run any commands via SSH or tty1. It'll catch up what I
typed, but I'm just lucky this is a backup server and not a high
performance one!

I'm hoping someone can help me diagnose the cause because this error
did not occur when I had 7.04 and 7.10 installed.

Is this kernel specific? Does this have to do with my CPU? Do I need
to turn acpi off? (because I've already turned acpi off in
/boot/grun/menu.lst)
