This may prove to be complicated as new libraries may be needed. I'd
start by taking the latest version of openldap from hardy (openldap 2.4)
and try to build it on dapper. You'll probably run into dependencies and
libraries problems that you'll have to sort out.

You may wanna contact the Ubuntu Backport team [1]. Their wiki page has
a section about the technical process of backporting a new version.
