Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

I have tested Trusty on i386, and found that installing php-memcache
pulls in php5-common correctly without a problem.

Looks like you're using Ondřej's PPA, rather than Ubuntu's PHP packaging
itself. So while your bug may be valid against his PPA, it isn't valid
against the Ubuntu archive, so I'm marking this bug as Invalid against
the Ubuntu archive.

If you disagree with this, then please explain and then set the bug
status back to New.
