Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

If your machine is freezing completely on some kernels and not others,
this is very unlikely to be a bug in puppet or facter and much more
likely to be a bug in the kernel, so I'm reassigning this bug to the
kernel.

Note that 2.6.24-28 is not the current kernel for 8.04, and I assume it
would help the kernel bug triagers if you can test the latest 8.04
kernel as well as report the exact version number of a previous known
good one. I think they'll want the vanilla upstream kernel tested too.
If this turns out to be a regression, then a bisection would help:
