As of about 5 minutes ago, all packages up to date, yes, it does.

For what it's worth, the only message in syslog from boot that mentions 
named is:

Oct  7 11:15:08 centauri kernel: [  743.391727] type=1505 
audit(1254932103.777:9): operation="profile_load" name="/usr/sbin/named" 
name2="default" pid=2618

There's absolutely nothing else after the messages it emits shutting
down.
