This is actually a bug in Exim.  The system tries to stop it before
removing it (since both Postfix and Exim cannot be installed at the same
time) and the attempt to stop Exim fails:

/sbin/start-stop-daemon: warning: failed to kill 5125: No such process
invoke-rc.d: initscript exim4, action "stop" failed.
