My general impression is that people here in India follow the British accent
better than the American accent(I definitely do) but I think it is slowly
changing with lot of Indians migrating to US and not as many to UK. Many TV
channels also telecast American shows 24x7 these days where even the lone
British channel BBC is shown only in selected areas.

My understanding is that as long as the screencasts are purely technical in
nature, any accent should be fairly easy to follow. I follow 95% of Alan's
screencasts even when I am half asleep ;) and miss out only on rarely used
English words(should be common to native English speakers). In future
if/when we have contributors(in English) from Africa, India and East Asia,
the accent problem might become more pronounced, so let's not fret on
British vs American accent and just make sure that English subtitles are
also made available for every screencast(like it's already done) ;)

If the script of the screencast can be made available before the audio is
recorded(not very practical I believe), perhaps a non-native English speaker
can mark difficult non-technical words in it to be replaced with a more
common alternative.
