I'm not sure which branch you're referencing with that line number. I won't dispute that there are differences in behavior between SUBARCH='' and SUBARCH=generic, I just think this is a bad way to handle this!

In any case, I stand corrected - I see now that existing builds are using riscv64+generic e.g. https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-cdimage/+livefs/ubuntu/noble/cpc/+build/542136 so I should include that here.  Fixing now, thanks.
