gimp 2.10 is now available in the snap candidate channel. [1]

I don't recommend having your installer use the candidate channel
because there's no easy way to switch users back to the regular stable
channel, but hopefully gimp 2.10 will be promoted to the stable
channel soon. Give it a try! :)
