Yes, it is unusual to SRU a large new release like this into an older
release. If there are specific bugs affecting 6.7, the fixes can be
backported from 6.8 (if somebody is willing to put the effort in), and
those individual patches can be SRU'd.
Aside from that possibility, the default thing that will eventually
happen is that 6.8 will get synced from debian to vivid.
